Your First Boudoir Session: What to Expect, Start to Finish

What to expect at your first boudoir session

Nervous? Good. That means this matters to you!

Hi, I'm Lexi, a boudoir photographer in Plainfield, Indiana, about 30 minutes west of Indianapolis. Almost every client tells me they've never done anything like this. So let me walk you through exactly what happens, start to finish. No surprises.

Step 1: A free consult

First, we chat. You tell me what you're dreaming about and what makes you nervous. I answer every question. There's no pressure and no obligation.

Step 2: Planning your session

Once you book, I send you my guides. They cover what to wear, how to prep your skin and hair, and what to pack. I love it when clients make a Pinterest board and share it with me, so I can see your vision.

I book 6–12 months out, so give yourself about 6 months. Images and products take 8–10 weeks after your session, so plan ahead if your photos are a gift.

Step 3: Hair and makeup

On session day, you walk in with a clean, bare face and dry hair. My glam team does your hair and makeup right in the studio. It's included with every session.

Photo-ready makeup can look like a lot in the mirror. On camera, it looks soft and glowy. Trust the process!

Step 4: Your session

This is the fun part. It's just you, me and your hair and makeup artist. No guests. I know that sounds scary, but you'll feel so much braver without an audience.

You don't have to know how to pose. I tell you where to put your hands, how to breathe and when to laugh. Every chin tilt, every pointed toe. You just show up and have fun.

You'll get to pick from my 30+ studio sets, like the pink rock room, angel wings, the neon shower, my dark academia library and more. Full Experience clients also get access to bonus sets.

Heads up: you might be a little sore the next day. It's a workout!

Step 5: Your virtual reveal

Within 14 days of a Full Experience session, we meet online for your reveal. This is where you see your images for the very first time. Get the tissues ready. Clients cry happy tears all the time.

You pick your favorites and choose your products, like albums and wall art. I offer in-house payment plans, interest free with no credit check, for up to 18 months. So the collection you love is usually more doable than you think.

Step 6: Your images arrive

About 8–10 weeks after your session, your images and products are ready. And then you get to fall in love with yourself all over again.

"But I don't look like a model"

You don't need to! There's no such thing as a perfect body. I photograph every shape, every size and every age. I don't do heavy Photoshop. I want you to look like YOU on your very best day.
